Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Recertification

Prerequisites: Current American Heart Association BLS Provider certification. Current or recently expired American Heart Association ACLS Provider certification.

In partnership with Sentinel Training Group, Atlantic Cape Community College proudly offers the American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS Recertification course, which is designed for experienced healthcare providers seeking renewal of their ACLS certification. This refresher course reviews the latest evidence-based resuscitation guidelines and reinforces effective management of adult cardiac emergencies. Participants engage in focused review, rhythm interpretation, team-based scenarios, and simulation exercises to strengthen proficiency in high-quality CPR, airway management, pharmacology, electrical therapy, and post–cardiac arrest care.

Successful completion of written and practical evaluations results in renewal of the American Heart Association ACLS Provider certification.

Student Responsibility: Students are encouraged to review current ACLS algorithms and provider materials before class.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Recertification

Prerequisites: Current or recently expired American Heart Association PALS Provider certification. Current American Heart Association BLS Provider certification.

In partnership with Sentinel Training Group, the American Heart Association (AHA) PALS Recertification course is designed for healthcare providers seeking renewal of their Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification. The course reviews pediatric emergency assessment, resuscitation strategies, and current evidence-based treatment guidelines for critically ill or injured infants and children. Participants reinforce pediatric airway management, shock recognition, cardiac arrest management, pharmacology, and team communication skills through interactive review and pediatric simulation scenarios.

Successful completion of written and practical evaluations results in renewal of the American Heart Association PALS Provider certification.

Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) – Hybrid

In partnership with The Southern NJ EMS Collaborative, Atlantic Cape Community College proudly offers Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), an internationally recognized continuing education course designed for EMS and other prehospital healthcare professionals who care for injured and trauma patients.

Successful completion of written and practical evaluations results in renewal of the American Heart Association PALS Provider certification. 

Developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACSCOT), PHTLS emphasizes evidence-based assessment, clinical decision-making, and the rapid identification and management of life-threatening traumatic injuries. Participants engage in interactive instruction, case-based discussions, patient assessment scenarios, and hands-on skills practice focused on trauma scene assessment, airway and ventilation management, shock and hemorrhage control, head and spinal trauma, thoracic and abdominal injuries, musculoskeletal trauma, and special patient populations. The course emphasizes critical thinking, prioritization of care, and effective decision-making in the prehospital environment. Successful completion of the required written and practical evaluations results in NAEMT PHTLS Provider certification.

Student Responsibility: Students are required to complete the 8-hour PHTLS online component before attending the in-person session. A certificate of completion for the online portion must be presented or submitted on the day of the in-person course. Students who have not completed the required online component may not be eligible to participate in the hands-on portion of the course.
