Information Session Request Form

Due prior to registration: Prerequisites: Attend an Information Session for the Paramedic Science program, possess current New Jersey EMT-Basic certi ication, possess high school diploma or equivalency, possess current American Heart Association CPR certification for healthcare professionals, be 18 years of age before the start of the first day of Didactic; obtain a reading score of 11 on the Core Academic Skills Assessment (CASA); complete the Paramedic Science Entrance Examination with a minimum score of 75; attestation of the ability to perform the physical capabilities to perform all required skills and tasks of an EMT-Paramedic.

Student Responsibility: Students are required to purchase black or navy blue EMS pants, a stethoscope, a black belt, and black footwear.

Due prior to going on clinical: Documentation of physical exam including drug screening, documentation of immunizations, PPD test, and Hepatitis B series (this is the responsibility of the student). Documentation of health insurance (this is the responsibility of the student). Successful completion of a criminal background check (included in tuition).

Minimum Expectations Goal: (Standard II.C) To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and/or Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) levels.

This program prepares experienced EMTs to perform Advanced Life Support (ALS) as Mobile Intensive Care Paramedics (MICPs). Through a highly intensive curriculum, students will develop the critical thinking, clinical judgement, and decision-making skills necessary for a career in Paramedic Science.

In addition to classroom and skills laboratory instruction, students participate in patient-centered simulations using live patient encounters and high-fidelity simulation technology. Clinical education includes rotations through multiple hospital specialties and culminates in a field internship on Mobile Intensive Care Units, where students progress into the role of an entry-level paramedic team leader.

The curriculum meets or exceeds the current National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s EMS Education Standards and includes content from the 2021 National EMS Education Standards, the 2021 National EMS Scope of Practice Model, and the 2017 Paramedic Psychomotor Competency Portfolio, as adopted by the State of New Jersey. Students also complete certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). Program graduates are eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic Certification examination.

College Pathways: Upon successful completion of the program and NREMT credential attainment, you may be eligible for up to 16 college credits toward a Health Sciences degree from Atlantic Cape.
